Innovation
Our Story
The Navigage Foundation was established on these values based in lifelong learning and community through its origins as California P.E.O. Home. Opened in Alhambra, CA, in 1934, and adding a second campus in San Jose in 1964, the California P.E.O. Home served residents on beautiful campuses with convenient services, comprehensive activities, enriching sisterhood, and the security of health care.
As market forces changed and affected the viability of these retirement communities, the Board of Directors approved a new strategic plan, which led to adopting a broader, more flexible mission that maintained the organization’s original purpose while converting its financial assets to a fund that supports ageless living through grantmaking.
